How I Got Into Working Out

I got into working and becoming healthy was when I was a freshman in high school. My older brother took me to the gym, I felll in love with it after a few sets of light weights. Now back then I was a kid who weighed no more than 100 pounds was 5'4 and was skinny as a toothpick. I have always been interested in sports and being active, but never really pushed my self like you have to do in the gym to see the personal gains that you want. My first year in the gym I gained about 5 pounds of muscle by going to the gym once a week with my brother. Every time I went I got more interested and wanted to become bigger and stronger, to be honest I was sick of being picked on for being small short and lacking a girl friend. I started looking at workout book just to get a better idea of what I wanted to do, back then I had no idea what any of the work outs meant. Back then I just figured out what was a set and a rep.

When my sophomore year rolled around I was becoming more interested in it, I became friends with a guy who had been working out way longer than i have. he was much bigger than I was, so I asked him if he could be my workout buddy and in return I would help him loose some weight and so he would have more definition in his body. Well he helped me gain in the end of the year about 17 pounds for a grand total weight of 122 pound who now had strength of 10 men (OK not really) but my self esteem went through the roof I was feeling much better about my self. Now for my friend he takes pills that will help him slap on pounds of muscle like you would never believe. I felt that was wrong and I decided I would take the all natural way to become healthy and strong. but my friend did loose a few pounds from what I told him about his eating habits and how he ate. That was only a small step in the right direction for me, I still had much to learn about nutrition and working out.

To summarize my first 2 years I gained 22 pounds; two years since then, I have gained more, for a total of 37 pounds of muscle. Using trial and error, I keep finding out which workout will be most effective for me, it will always change because your body adapts to the new stress your put on it from working out.
